The film which will comprise the only official picture to l>e shown in the Dominion will he in charge of Mr Tano Farna the wellknown theatrical entrepreneur and will serve to illustrate something of what is being done by the Government in the way of advertising this country overseas by this popular means. Arrangements with regard to the preparation of the film are now well advanced and its advent in each centre will bo duly heralded by a local display of an attractive nature. The elocutionary and dancing competitions for the juveniles will he very much in the public mind, and will create great interest. There will he a dance at night to wind up the proceedings. Meantime those appreciating the work of the Beautifying .Society, and desiring to aid its good work may send along gills which will he most thankfully received, and proceeds from the stile of the goods will he applied faithfully.

Mr W. .1. Knight, manager of the White Star Motor Company, who with Mr T. K. Robson has been on a round trip to the West Coast. Nelson, Hlenlieim, and Kaikotirn. told a reporter at Christchurch that the trip to the Franz .Josef Glacier is one which should not he missed. There are hot springs in the bed ol the river within a few chains of the glacier, this ill itself being a wonderful freak ol nature. The Graham Brothers, wellknown guides, spare no effort to make anyone's stay at. the glacier most enjoyable. Preparations Tor tin* KokatahiKoiterangi Winter .Show are now rapidly approaching completion. There are splendid entries, numbering 700. so that there should he splendid competition. In i lie poultry division white leghorns take precedence in the number of entries, hut. Old English Game have nine entries for cock bird. The duck entry is a fair one in numlsers, while in the farm produce the roots classes have all filled well, table use carrots having sixteen entries, out of a total of about 110. In fruit section, aoplos promise a good display with L’e entries, while hams and bacon will make a brave show of the district's capabilities. Other farm products will also he wedd represented. There will Ik l one farmer's hay, and two district hays, for which very special arrangements tire being made. Home cookery is always a special attraction, and the entries are specially good, with a promise of keen competition. Plain scones (I t entries) fruit cake (II entries), sandwich sponge (10 entries), home-made loaf ( 9 entries) tire amongst a line list which totals 109 entries. The school girls’ coking and miscellaneous classes have filled well, so that a very attractive display is assured. The Show will he open to tho public at 3 p.m. on 'luesday and on Wednesday up to 4 p.m. the official ceremony taking place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

The death of .Mr Peter Nelson. sar.. one of llie few remaining (Irey pioneers of more than fifty years’ standing took place last night at 11.30 o'clock at his residence. Blaketuwn. The deceased, who was a native of Denmark, was in his ninety-first year, and while his health had been failing for some time, had not been long laid up prior to his death. He was well known in the early days as a boatman on the Grey river, and was highly esteemed by all who came into touch with him.
