DY TELEGRAPH—PER PRESS ASSOCIATION; WESTPORT, March 24.

The first day of the Westport Jockey Club’s Meeting was held to-day in fine weather. Retting was not brisk, only £4693 being registered against £5435 for the corresponding day last year. Results:—

Trial Handicap.—6 furlongs and 80 yards.—Stoepliolm 8.1, 1; Le Forte 7.7, 2; Lady Pallas 9.6, 3. Also started— Redsome, Sunbath, Chaeronia f Preludium, War Unit and Bon Ash. Won easily. Time 1.23 2-5.

Granity Trot (saddle), 1 mile.—Bon nie Lad, 96yds bhd, I; Neut 156yds bbd, 2; Foxglove 36yds bhd, 3. Also started—Seleetress Mack, Brockton Boy, Westleigh, Angelina, Mercadante, Kolynos, Rouble, Elite. Won by a neck. Time 2.34 2-5.

Karamea Handicap, 1 mile.—Lady Middleton 8.7, 1; Carnbrea 8,2; Black Night 8.6, 3. Also ran —Lord Ashlea, Grand Duchy, Tiranga. Won by half a length. Time 1.47. Electric Handicap, 5 furlongs.—Woltliea 7.10, 1; Golden Morn 7.10, 2; Bunny 9.8, 3. Also ran—niemonstrate, Gatha. Time 1.4 2-5.

Westport Handicap Trot (saddle) U miles.—Prince Charlie 84yds blul, 1; Brooklyn Hall ser., 2; Harold Hue 192 yds bhd, 3. Also started—-Miss AVildwood, Anneuax d’Or, Foxglove, McKinney Again, Norwood. Won easily. Time 3.55 2-5.
