Thb Railway “ Cut.” Once again the Government has confessed its inability to run the railways and the public is to pay for* the defects of the management by having to put up with a partial service A couple of years ago the time-tables were reduced because the Department was short of coal; this time a principal reason is that the Department ha s too much coal. Strange as this may seem, it is the official explanation. While the present Government) is in charge of the country’s affairs the people will have to put up with th* consequences, of which n curtailed railway service is merely a -sample, *“*" T/ytfelton Times."
