A large field piece captured by tlv New Zealanders cm September 28, U'lß. when operating in the Quesnoy region, lias reached Hokitika front the Defence Department. It is n-9 German gun and is in a very fair state of preservation. It bears marks of t! e great campaign and is an interestin' 1 ; relic of the war. giving some .lidication of the formidable engines of desire •- ton employed in making war. It has been suggested that the field piece should lie set up in Cass Square. HOKITIKA GAS COMPANY.
