Apparently he platced the gun in his mouth, Blowing the top of his skull to pieces. Smith was married with one child. He had been ailing lately. He had no financial worries. IMPERIAL BUYING. WELLINGTON, August 8. There appears to he an impression abroad in some quarters that the Imperial Government has offered to purchase the New Zealand output of cheese next season at the price of 11 Id per lb. Such is shown by a cable just received from the High Commissioner, reading as follows: “I understand rumours are current in New Zealand that' flic Imperial Government is considering the purchase of next season’s output of butter am! cheese.
