AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the above Association was held on Saturday at 8 p.m. in the, County Chambers. There were present Mr G. Davidson (Chairman); Dr Teichelmann, Messrs Stuart, Seale, Williams Renton, Mclntosh and Pelham. The main business before the meeting was the matter of providing cars , for the Royal Party on their arrival. All the cars required were arranged lor, and allotted their numbers so that each car will have its alloted position. ft was decided that the Association s thanks be sent to Dir J. D. Gillies for his very encouraging reply relating to the bridging of the streams on the Otira Road, and it was very satisfactory to know that timber is already on the ground for several culverts and bridges and that the work is being proceeded with as fast as present circumstances will allow.
As the Minister of Public Works is about to visit here in the near future it was a recommendation of the meeting that the Secretary and Chairman place before him the absolute necessity of bridging the several streams in this district, more especially those in South Westland, as there does not appear any 'necessity for longer delay. It was also resolved to ask the County Council to put in a small culvert on tlie Kanieri-Kokatnln Road, about half a mile below Whiley’s Mill as there is a bad dip in the road caused by a blindstream. a \ new member, Mr Turner of Rua-, tapu, was proposed by Mr Davidson and seconded by Mr Seale and agreed
After a. large quantity of inward and outward correspondence was dealt with the meeting terminated at 9.45 p.m.
