fAUSTBAMAN db N.Z CABLE ASSOCIATION] DENIKEN’S RETREAT. LONDON, March 29. The War Office reports that Bolshevists captured Novorossisk on Saturday. Before the entry of the Soviet troops, the British authorities evacuated a large number of families, officers, wounded, and others, who otherwise ; would have been exposed to reprisal by the reds. Deniken refused to Consider an armistice, and would not avail himself of British aid, but- embarked on a Russian destroyer, when the evacuation was complete. There was some rearguard fighting between Deniken’s troops and Bolshevists during the final stages of the evacuation. The British Mission, however, embarked safely, intact.
