It was summoned because of representations' made by the sea--1 men’s representatives. The Conference has, however, failed to reach a settlement. MANUKA STILL DELAYED. CREW UNPROCURABLE. SYDNEY, July 7. All efforts to secure a crow for the Manuka failed. i It was stated at the Union Coy’s office to-day that the Manuka will sail to-morrow, as previously arranged, with three hundred stranded New Zealanders.
SYDNEY SHEEP SALES SLOW. SYDNEY, July 7.
Tlie influenza and the shipping striek seriously affected the sheep sales to-day. Although the quality was good, many lots, including New Zealand and Tasmanian, were unable to come torward. The bidding was weak, and prices were low. A Haddon Rig stud ram and a Canowie ram fetched 410 guineas each.

INFLUENZA CURE A MYTH. SYDNEY, This Day. Mr Fitzgerald announced having received advices from America that there is no foundation for the alleged influenza cure reported at the American Medical Convention. The France’s day appeal has been postponed to the 25tli.

The steamer Ngakuta has arrived from Greymouth, after a voyage of nearly nine days. When three hundred miles off Greymouth she struck heavy weather, and was hove to for 63 hours. Th,e cargo of timber shifted slightly, but the vessel was not damaged.
SEAMEN’S DEMAND
MELBOURNE, This Day
At the Seamen’s Conference, the men offered to resume, if granted a six hours day in port, increased wages for overtime, and compensation for injuries or death arising from their employment. The owners refused, insisting on arbitration.
The power restrictions are suspended until Saturday.
SHEEP EMBARGO. SYDNEY, July 8. The Federal Authorities have made representations to United States to remove the embargo on the importing of Australian sheep, so far declined.
