A Paris message states that the American Peace Delegation expressed surprise at the announcement that tho Kaiser is to he tried in London, and is reported to have wirelessed Mr Wilson, seeking enlightment. THE KAISER’S TRIAL. LONDON, July 6. The “Daily Chronicle” says: It is expected that a number of Germans to bo tried as offenders in connection with the submarine warfare, and the executions of Captain Fryatt and Nurse Cavell, will reach London this week. They will be allowed counsel and be permitted to call witnesses. PERSONNEL OF TRIBUNAL. LONDON,, July 6. The “Daily Chronicle” states: It is understood that the tribunal for tho Kaiser’s trial will consist of the heads of the judiciary of the five leading Entente Powers.
THE EXTRADITION. LONDON, July b. The “Daily Chronicle” says that Holland will probably protest against the demand to hand up the Kaiser as a breach of the right of asylum, but that she will surrender Wilhelm under protest. The Central News correspondent at Amsterdam says: “It is now regarded as certain that a Court of Justice at Utrecht will decide the question of the extraditing of Wilhelm.”
A COMPROMISED TRIAL. (Received This Day at- 10.35. a.m.) LONDON, June 7. As an eleventh hour, compromise to Mr Wilson, the Kaiser’s indictment will be limited to the violation of Belgium and Luxembourg. To avoid capital sentence it excludes serious crimes as in other cases. France is cooling on the question. America never desired the Kaiser’s prosecution. Some leading papers are discontented at the insufficiently comprehensive indictment, others because it will make William a martyr and create a Hohenzollern legend.
