A FIRE.
A HOUSE DESTROYED. I Tho fireball rang out an alarm shortly i beforfc 2 o’clock this morning when the j glare showed at once -that it was in i direction of upper Gibson Quay. The ! scene proved to be an old and unoecu- ! pied house in Jollic Street, at the rear , of Mrs. Eisfelder's for several years occu ' pied by the late airs Bonar. It had been ; empty for a considerable time, and had a big hold when discovered. There was no hope of saving the structure when the Fire Brigade arrived, neir efforts being devoted to subduing the flames of , the "doomed building. The house was 1 completely destroyed. The outbreak was another of those, mvsterious fires that are continually occurring in the town and presumably can be put- down to the wanton action of an irresponsible band in the town reputed to be the cause of previous outbreaks. On the return of tho Brigade i t<> the station the Superintendent com--1 plimented tho men on the splendid muster, stating the call was an unsatisfactory one from a Brigade point of view, inasmuch as it was out oi the way , and there was no opportunity to display their efficiency. r The building was insured in the Imperial Office for £l5O.
