The records for butter-?at production put ur> by Jersey herds in the Ka-Hnifra district we a striking .indorsement of the ability of the breed to triumph over severe climatic conditions. Semiofficial testing is freely indulged in ov members of the Kaponea, Jersey Cattle Uub, the majority of whom have made butterfat their principal objective in breeding operations. The result is that the comparatively small area embz-iod by the club has been productive or « wonderful array of buttei-fat xeconls— performances that would, .Aral ani p..,----bably excel those of any othor"'district its size in New Zealand. For 1923 tne club have the honour that three of <fc* medals presented for butter-fat lecoiot were won by members of this club in Mr E. Bennett owner of Happy Life, Eenior two-year old bronze medallist, U.O.R. 664.51 lb* of bat. This is a record M'hich reflecta great credit both on the individual breeders concerned and the club as a whole, and it seems to emphasise more than ever the excellent- standing ot the Kaponga herds in the realm of semiofficial testing.
