Is*u?ffcfefe3 s restrictions on Japanese im"toigrAnts into Canada are under con--sijderation by the Government, Mr Robb {Minister for Immigration) informed the Mouse of Commons in replying to. ■a question. He said that the Government had received representations from tifee retail merchants of British. Colusis>ia asking for the same restriction on -Japanese as is now existing in reject to Chinese, and what the Government intended to do about it. Mr. Robb replied to the representations "received that "the question of the advisability •of a further restriction on Japanese immigration is under consideration."
Canada has no agreement with the Japanese Government not to j>ass further restrictive legislation. The Japanese Government agreed to restrict to 150 annually the number of Japanese coming to Canada. This constitutes the quota allowed. Last year 448 Japanese came to Canada. -. ~.
