TARANAKI DISTRICT COMMITTEE.
The Taranaki District Conunitt** met at New Plymouth last nightPresent: Messrs L. A. Noian (chairman), G. Fraser^ 0. W. Sole, £. jjfesander, and H. Washer. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs AGood, J. Gray, S. Pitt, D. J. Malone,. B. H. Chancy and J. McLeod. The following applications for licenseswere considered and recommended: R. H. Pepperell, D. T. Moraghan, Jas.. O'Neill, J. P. Johnson, Tkos. Cio*«> E-. George, W. F. Mantle, R. J. Johnson., J. F. Butler (trainers); H. X Gray^ F. R. Johnson, G. Edgecombe, L. E. George, N. F. Johnson, Thos. Close(jockeys); J. M. Simpson, Ivor Fraser (apprentices); Muir Gray (for a^>r«ntice races only from August 1 next). Correspondence was read relative ta a breach of part seven of the rules o£ racing (failure to register joint interests). It was resolved that a certificate be given that-the committee considered that the breach was not wilful. The two parties involved had alreadybeen fined £1 each by the Racing Conference.
The secretary was authorised to pay an accident claim in connection, with a jockey in terms of the request of th« conference.
- It was resolved to advise the Auckland District Committee that the Taranaki District Committee had no objection to the granting of applications forjockeys' licenses to A. B. Cole s*«l R. E. Maneon.
It was decided to hold a special meeting of the committee on Jtm« lfi for the purpose of considering all licenses.
