Ihe Durban Town Hall was crowded to hear, General Smuts speak, but an organised disturbance by the1 minority created a pandemonium, and the Premier eventually left without speaking, {subsequently he addressed a small open air meeting of supporters. He said: The Red flag had come to South Africa and free speech is denied to us, and the fundamental rights of tree citizens are also denied to us. This night will do more than any speech of mine to arose the public to a realisation of the dangers coming from i.uct rule."
General Smuts declared that t^erythmg was carefully organised mid well executed in the scheme of anarchy. Ihe Premier appealed to law-abiding ' citizens to rouse themselves and not to sit still while the seeds of future revolution weie sown.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn
