ALL BLACK TEAM.
METHOD OF SELECTION
(BY TJSLEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) PALMERSTON N., May 20. Strong exception to the method of changing players in the- northern versus southern match played at Wanganui on Friday was voiced by Mr J. Ryan, the Manawatu groura selector and ex-All Black, in a letter to tie Manawatu Rugby "Union to-night. Mr Ryan objected to Bailey, Galpin, and Potaka being replaced at half-time by Ennis, Sivers, and Johnston. The decision to make the changes was made the day prior to the match, and the. writer knew nothing of it. "My objection to this," Mr Ryan, said, "is tnat it is unfair and unsound,, and can in no way be called a.try oat. It is impossible to arrive at a fair and just decision on the ability of players, on a half game, and impossible for "any bunch of selectors to judge on one spell when a player "has been selected totake a place in the team." The Manawatu Union decided to enter a strong protest against tbemethod.
