FRIENDSHIP WITH BRITAIN

LONDON, May 19. The Daily Mail's Lyons correspondent states that M. Heriot has been acclaimed as M. Poincare's successor, and has arrived for a conference of Radical Socialists, the largest body in the Chamber. He said they must speedily settle the foreign situation. "I have not the slightest intention of sacrificing a single legitimate claim if called to form a Government, and will not forget that our relations with Britain must be most cordial." He considered that the match monopoly should be maintained, and the question of 20 per cent additional taxation would depend on the foreign policy, which must be friendly and sympathetic—Sydney Sun Cables.
