BERLIN, May 6. • .Further results of the elections make -the situation confusing. It is now in no wise certain that the -Socialists will be- the largest party in the Reichstag. The German. Nationals, already numbering 99, will probably be joined by Jiine or ten deputies of' the so-calleci Xrandbund supporters, who are ex.niembers- of the German National Party. If so the Nationalists will be the largest party, and should the present Government resign Herr Ebert is bound to ask the German Nationals to form a Government.—Reuter. Twenty-three women were elected to the Reichstag, the. majority of whom fcelong to the ~ Left.—Sydney Sun ■Cables.
Received May 7, 1.10 p.m. PARIS, May 6. The Foreign Office considers Geranany nearer to monarchy than at any time sine© the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. The Ruhr and Rhineland voting disproves the contention that the occupational policy is driving Germany to a war of revenge.—Sydney Sun Cables. French official circles are pessimistic regarding the results of the German ■•©lections, believing that the defeat of jfche middle parties and the success of the two extremes will render a reparations settlement more difficult.—Reu■lfcer.
