EMPRESS EUGENIE.

LONG-STANDING DISPUTE,

SETTLEMENT REACHED

«I CABUB—PBESa ASSOCIATION—COPTMQH*

Received May 7, 9.20 a.m

PARIS, May 6. The 25-year-old dispute between the late Empress Eugenic and the French Government has been settled. The Empress in 1899 was awarded 2,287,000 francs from the Imperial civil list, but the money was not paid, and is now due to the heiress of the Empress, Princess Marie, the 12-year-old daughter of Prince Victor Napoleon. As the death duties and transfer fees amount to 4,500,000 francs, Princess Marie has waived all her claims, provided the State gives her Napoleon's sword and clock, which was the property of Queen Eortense.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
