Mention was miade in the Arbitration Court to-day of the desire on the part of Auckland employers to rev-crt to 8.30 on the late shopping night, instead of 9, as in the award, aad close at 12.30 on Saturday. Mr. Justice Frazer said the Cfcmri was absolutely unable to alter the award without the consent of both partis*.
Mr. Crosby, secretary of the Employees' Federation, said the matter had been refe.r*ed to the unions throughout the Dominion. They were well satisfied wxiSi the award a® it stands. He .though* the unions would be ill-advised to agree to the proposed alteration, halving the curtailment of the late night after twelve years' fighting. 3£r. .Jasrtaee (Frazer expressed the "hope that the parties would meet and tnresh the matter out.
