ACCUSED GRANTED PROBATION.
At the Wanganui Court yesterday Ruby Lilian Ford and Louist Minnie VVikon appeared for sentence on a ThS rate ' Mr- J- S Barton, stud! that this matter had been delwsnbed by Mr. Hussey as an extreme- ■ ly painful one, and he (the Magistrate) quite agreed with him. } Mr. Barton said there were two applications before him, namely, for probation and that an order should be made suppressing publication of the - names After dealing with the objects of probation., the Magistrate stated ' that the Probation Officer in his report had recommended that it should be - granted, and he felt it his duty to - agree to that request, and the periodwould be for 18 months on tKe statutory terms, which would include re- - porting once per month and restitution of the stolen property. The Magistrate refused to suppresspublication of the names.
