ADMINISTRATION OF NEW ACT
COMMITTEES SUGGESTED.
(BY TELE6BAI»H —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, April 1. A request that the JLgMtrattun Court order that eulgroyers nv.di employees should set uo corunnirees i'or the purpose, of going into the question *of controlling the Apprentices Act. 1923, was made by Mr F. Cornv/all, representing the workers, to-day. Mr Justice Frazer said the let only • came into operation to-day, and they <eould not rush the employers and ; workers into forming committees ■straight away. However, the court v> as very desirous that all the parties ..should form their own committees, which should consist of sound moderate -.men of both sides who would look at the matter from a broad-minded point •of view. They should take into consideration the welfare of the particular industry which they represented, and the welfare of the boys. The commit- ■ tees would be largely responsible for the successful administration of the Act, as all the Court could do was to make any regulations that were necessary. The spade work and the work of maintenance would have to be done by • the members of the committees. It was agreed -that the whole ques- " tion of the administration of the Act "be discussed before the Court on Wednesday next week. Mr. Justice Frazer said the Act did not confer on the Court any power to hold such a. sitting, but it was thought desirable that they should have an informal discussion in order to yive conr sideration to the proposed draft on'ers •governing the conditions of apprenticeship in the various industries.
