TRADE UNION FORMED.
THREAT OF WAGES STRIKE,
BY CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT LONDON, March 31. Pilots and mechanics employed in civil aviation at xhe Oroydon aerodrome threaten a. wages strike. A combine, including the Daimler, Handley-Page, and Instone companies, propose drastic cuts from the present rates, under which pilots are paid £450 to £550 a year, plus ten shillings an hour. A pilot who earns £850 thus travel® 60,000 miles yearly. The combine propose £100 to £200 a year, plus twopence per mile:, whereby a' pilot flying 60,000 miles would only receive £600 to £700.
The .aviators have formed a trade union, which Mr. Ben Tillett, M.P., ana other leaders of the Transport Workers' Union addressed, and threaten, to stop all aeroplane traffic on Tuesday unless the combine climbs down. The combine receives a subsidy of £1,000 3 000, spread over a decade
