FAREWELL TO OFFICERS. Farewell meetings were held in the Salvation Army citadel last evening to Ensign Jackson and Lieutenant Rankin. oergeant-Major Dowdle led the meetin 8- ,After the opening, his Worship the Mayor (Mr. Bone) spoke, touching on the excellent work the officers had don© and wishing them success in their new work. Mr. J. T. Martin also spoke. Bandmaster Yearbury and Envoy Arnold told of the progress made in the ranks Of the Army. The two I brothers Tapp, of the Eltham Boys' Home, sang a duet, and Miss Hamblyt | a solo. Lieutenant Bankin and Ensign Jackson both replied,' stating that they had enjoyed their stay in Hawera. They asked that the support given them should be extended to their successors, Captain and Mrs. Searle. The two officers leave on Tuesday morning for Palmerston North and Raetihi
