POLAR FLIGHT.

USE OF DIRIGIBLE

AUTHORITIES APPREHENSIVE

BY CABLE—PBESS ABBOCIATIOIK— COFYBJBHT NEW YORK. Jan. 2 Admonitory comment on the proposed Polar flight of ZRI has increased popular apprehension .regarding the use of dirigibles.

General Dimont, military attache to the French Embassy at Washington, said: "The history of ZRI will end in a similar manner to the Dixmude. All dirigibles are sooner or later lost. France's recent misfortune teaches a far-reaching lesson. I do not think dirigibles will ever be built that will not meet the same end."

Meanwhile, reports that Captain McCrary, commander of ZRI, had decided that she was unfit to undertake the Polar flight gained such currency that Captain McCrary was compelled to issue a. flat denial, which allayed immediate fears, but provoked further discussion.
