A good attendance witnessed good racing, and the totalisator figures were £27,825, as against £24,025 last 3-ear. Loughrea was " hot favourite for the Cup, but Mantua upset calculations, finishing fast to win in the ; last few strides. Palamon was leading j in the hurdi&s, when Feilding lost his seat and toppled out at the entrance of the straight. Results : — Avenal Hurdles, 1|- miles. —Galway (A. E. Ellis) 1, Blazing Light 2, Bill Turpin 3. Also started: Palamon. Palamon sent his rider off when leading at the last hurdle. Won by half a length, 20 lengths between second and third. Time, 2.52 4-5.
