MANAIA WINS COMPETITION
After we went to press yesterday the match between Hawera a»id Park Clubs was completed, resulting in a runaway victory for the former by 140 to 51 points. Grant's rink was the only one to make a stand, losing by a point on the Last head. Phenomenal scores were recorded against Park in Ishe other three rinks. The result of play was as follows, Hawera being mentioned first:— Foy 34 v. Quin 7; Robeirtson 35 v. Goodwin 12; Hulbert 49 v. McGregor 11; Hicks 22 v. Grant 21. Manaia then met Park, and secured a victory by 102 to 57 points, thus annexing the shield for the year. In this gam© Quin more than *held his own, beating J. Christie by 3 points; but with one rink 30 down, this did not help a great deal, although a much beter fight was nut up than against Hawera. The scores were (Manaia being mentioned first): — J. Christie 17 v. Quin 20; Mills 21 v Grant 14; McDonald 24 v. Koodwin 13: H. Christie 40 v. McGregor 10. At the conclusion of the nlay Mr S Adamson announced that Manaia had won the shield for the year, and three hearty cheers were given for the Plains -club.
