SYDNEY, Jan. 2. A wireless message has been received stating that the steamer Prut, from New York, is ashore on the Natteara reef, outside Port Moresby. Her position is dangerous. She ha§ asked for assistance, which is being sent from Brisbane. Grave fears are entertained owing to the exposed position of the reef. The Pruth is a steamer of 4698 tons.
