WOOL FOR FRANCE.
DEPENDENT ON OTHER NATIONS,
«T CABLE-PEIS6C ASSOCIATION—COPYEIGHI
PARIS, Jan. 1. M. Loucheur, in a speech on Prance's colonial policy, deprecated the dependence of France on Britain and the United States for wgol and cotton. He declared that it was urfdoubtedly possible for the French colonies to furnish France with her supplies of wool and cotton.
The Ministry for the Colonies recently appealed directly to those interested, and the Tureoing Chamber of Commerce sent merino sheep to Madagascar, where, after the rainy season, it will be possible to say if they are becoming acclimatised. A similar experiment is being tried in the valley of the Niger and in Morocco.
M. Loucheur estimated that in a decade Prance would be largely independent of foreign wool imports.
