THEFT OF CLOTHING.
FINE OF £5 INFLICTED.
Before Messrs la. A. Bone and C. O. Ekdahl, J.P's, a labourer named William Brant was this morning fined £5 for theft of a military overcoat, & pair of trousers, and a razor. The articles \v<ere valued at £2, and were the property of Fred D. Hall, a farmer living in the Eltham' district.
Sergt. Henry, who conducted the ■ease for the- police, said that Brant, srh© was employed by Hall, and also lived with him, had permission to go to Kaponga on December 23 to see a friend.. Hall was away at the time, biii when he returned on Monday morning he. found that Brant had left torn, and had taken the articles in jqnesfcioM. Accused was ari-ested at Norman by on Saturday by Constable Pidgeon. " .<
