N.S.W. v. NEW ZEALAND.

CHRISTCHTTKCH, Dee. 30. The New South Wales and New Zealand tennis teams were entertained at dinner on Saturday night, among those present being Mr W. N. Seay, president of the New Zealand Association, who was chairman; Mr W. Goss, selector of the New Zealand team, and'Mr W T Black, president of the Otago Association. A short toast list was honoured. In the course of a speech, Mr Peach, captain of the New South Wales team, said he had not expected New Zealand to win so handsomely, as his team was a good one and contained the right material. The New Zealand courts were very little slower than the Australian, and the umpiring was excellent. He was also pleased with the generous attitude of the spectators. Mr Goss said New Zealand could learn a lot from the doubles play of the visitors, which was superior tactically to that of New Zealand. The hope was expressed by several speakers that an interchange of visits would be made annually. Mr McKay, the visitors' manager, said it would take the best New South Wales team all its time to beat the New Zealand team.
