CUBIiB—PEERS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT (Received Oct. 17, 12.55 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 16, Before Mr Justice Darling and a •special jury, ex-Archdeacon Wakef ord sued Henry Wright, managing clerk for the solicitors employed by the Bishop •of Lincoln in the recent proceedings "before the Consistory Court for dam--ages and alleged slander. It was alleged that Wright said to a clergyman: "I know John Wakef ord is guilty. I myself traced him to various hotels with women." Wright, is also alleged to .'have said on another occasion: "Wakeford is a very nice fellow if he would only keep the seventh commandment." Defendant deniefl slander and plead--.ecl bona fide fair with«>vt malice.—Aus.-N.Z.- Cable Assn.
