Si O* uiiA -MiSHji ASSOCIATION—COPYEIGHT ■^Special to Australian Press Association) ileceived Oct. 17, 10.5 a.m.

TOKIO. Oct. J5

At present the food position is well in hand, but daily many Japanese are .returning from the'country to start life afresh. As all these return and the <'oid weather approaches there will be a great need for stores. As soon as the -disaster occurred supplies > oured in from ail parts of Japan, and oefore proper control was assumed there was much lavish distribution. This is not -so now, as relief distribution has been • brought to a proper system. Work has been commenced in removing the debris of the Yokohama Club, where the huge mass of fallen masonry prevented the search for bodies. Several ■corpses of Europeans have already been recovered. All day long dynamiting .goes on in Yokohama, where the ruins •of great buildings are being blown up, -creating terrific clouds of dust. So far the town is remarkably free from ■disease. There is a little typhoid and ■dysentery, but it is not serious. The swarm's of flies are the most serious menace from a health point of view. Many Japanese are going, about with masks over their mouths and noses, "especially in the districts where the «death roll is exceptionally heavy. i
