DISPUTE CONCERNING BOUNDARIES.

(By Telegraph.—Special to the Star.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 17. The New Zealand Rugby Union decided at a meeting last night to issue aa ultimatum to the Taranaki Rugby Union that unless they decide within a month on the dispute between them and the Wanganui Rugby Union in regard to boundaries, the New Zealand union will intervene and adjudicate on the matter. The dispute is of long standing and revive* amusing incidents surrounding tbie, conditions _ under which a player had to sleep in. his cowashed as his dwelling house was across the boundary. The Wanganui Rugby Union wrote forwarding copies of letters from the Wairoa Sub-Union asking thai the New Zealand Union decide.

The secretary of the Wairoa SubUnion {Mr. J. It. Patton), in his letter, •said that the Patea Club, with whom he was asked to arrange for a conference, had ignored his letter, not even having the common decency to reply itihereio. The president of the Patea CSub satd that he did not recognise the Wairoa. Sub-Union. In a further letter the secretary said that the only boundary that would enable the sub-union, to administer its affairs successfully was the Manawapou River, as was agreed in conference | with Mr. Wyllie of the New Zealand TJnloa. ..' .. . .','.■'■ Mr. Wyllie: The arrangement was that the Taranaki Union were to for\yard the papers if they" could not arrive at a settlement and that the New Zealand Rugby Union "would decide between, them. ■ : The chairman (Mr. S. S. Dean): We have power to deal with, the matter. We have written to Taranaki sending on the request of Wanganui and they should not ignore it. This matter is holding up the printing of our rule boqke. We should give Taranaki an ultimatum that if they do not deal with the matter within a month <we will do so. He moved accordingly and the resolution was adopted.
