THE TREVASSA.

HEROISM OF SURVIVORS

3Y CABLB—PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHT LONDON, Sept. 19. Tributes to the heroism of the Trevessa survivors were paid at Lloyds, when medals and cheques for £300 and £200 respectively were presented to Captain Foster and the chief officer (Mr. Smith). The chairman (Mr. Sturge), in making the presentation, said it was a deed which was peculiarly British. It was not momentary heroism, but an effort sustained over a long period. Captain* Foster and Mr. Smith were visibly affected. Replying, the former said: "The people ashore evidently thought more of the.feat than ourselves.''.

After the presentation the famous Lutine bell was rung in honour of the crew.
