Aranga, Wanoa, Dean and I^each were associated in a god passing bout that taxed Schoor defence until their backs secured from a scrum and swept downfieid. -A failure, to take and Mackay lost a fine chance, and then Te Aute showed the best passing they had made during the match, and swept upfield in ah irresistible rush. Defene* was sound, however, and from a free kick Manoa had a shot at goal which failed. Play was in School 25 until Jeffrie* secured and set his backs in motion. A bad. pass spoilt a good chance, and Te Aute came back upfield. Play was very even, but Te Auto were {jetting perhaps the best of the struggle, and twice jiist failed to score. School defended dogged--ly against their doughty opponents. A free kick in a good, position cave Manoa a. chance, but he failed. Then School forwards, Christie and Fookes in tho lead, went downfieid and made a strong attack. Te Aute retaliated and. set up a hot attack, the backs handling well, and Maekey holding on too long spoilt a capital opening; but Christie intercepted, and passing to Patterson,the latter sent out the leather to the backs, and only good defence by Potaka saved a score. Again School were kept out by the sound defence" of Kereopa and Potaka. ATanga, taking well, beat three men and opened ud a nice rush. but a bad pass spoilt the .effort. Te Ante came again, and a fine rush took play to School quarters,-and thetre a penalty gave Manoa a fairly easy kick, but he failed to take the chance. They maintained the pressure, and from a forward dash a pass came to Erueti. who mulled, and a, certain score was lost. A-free kick relieved the pressure for a time, till Te Ante backs got on another good rush, which failed* when close to the lfne. They maintained, the pressure, but could not pierce the\Sehoo*l defence, and the ball goinn; out the whistle went for no side, leaving New Plymouth victors by a margin of ten points .after a very streTmoufjlv-contosted match.
