ARBITRATION COURT
(BY TTST TTfi. i t»it __Y>t>ws<i t ftpnOTA TT'VV ) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 25." The Arbitration Court heard the appeal of Fuller's, Ltd., against a decision obtained by the Inspector of Awards in the Magistrate' 3 Court during Christmas week. There were five evening performances and two matinees held in appellant's opera house, instead of six evening performances and one matinee. The_ inspector claimed that the extra matinee should be paid for under the musicians' award, while appellant claimed that the extra matinee took the place of an evening performance rot given on Christmas night. Decision was reserved. Mr. Justice Frazer, president of the Arbitration Court, during the hearing of an appeal concerning the payment of wages on Anzac Day, said industrial confusion was too high a price to pay for sentiment. This, however, was only his opinion, as the law of the land decreed otherwise. Hourly workers lost a day's wages on Anzac Day, but weekly workers suffered no deduction. The position would not be improved until Anzno Day was observed on the nearest Sunday.
