LEADER OF THE HOUSE.
HON. W. NOSWORTHY
(By Telegraph.'—Special to Star.)
WELLINGTON, Aug. 25. Only half an hour or so could be given by the. Prime Minister to the Affairs of the House, because he wished to catch the Auckland express, in order to visit Mrs. Massej7, who has been seriously ill in Auckland. Latest reports regarding the invalid are fortunately mare favourable. Mr_ Massey was kept busy answering questions until the actual moment of his disappearance from the Chamber; in fact Mr. Witty, ignoran| of what had happened, put another query to the Prime Minister, only to be told by Mr. Speaker that there was nothing before the House. "The Prime Minister is not here.'' However, someone had to represent the Government during the question bombardment, and Opposition members ehorussed: "Who is the leader?" They got their reply when Mr. Nosworthy rose to answer the next question put to the Government. He was heartily applauded on both sides of the House.
