A London cable says Admiral de Kobeck has fractured his skull as a result of a motor skidding at Lanark.

Mr. Brian Johns, son of Mr. F. S. Johns, of New Plymouth, has passed his examination in materia medica. The Prime Minister (Mr. W. F. Massey) left Wellington on Saturday for Auckland to bid farewell to his family Mr. Massey will be back in Wellington to-day, and he sails to-morrow by the Tahiti for San Francisco,, civ route to London.

Our Manaia correspondent writes: — It is with very deeo regret tlTat I have to record the death of Mrs Hodgson, mother of Mr J. J. Hodgson, plumber. Manaia. who died at Ta Chaps last week. The late Mrs Hodgson and family were for many years resident of Manaia. The deceased was a lady of kind and charitable disposition, 'and was held in very high esteem by all who knew her. She was always ready to assist any charitable cause, "and was a real friend in time of sickness, and to her family she was a kind ami affectionate mother. The depest sympathy is extended by the citizens of Manaia and district to Mr J. J. Hodgson and brothers and sisters in their very sad bereavement.
