4 (From O-ur Own Correspondent). The ordinary monthly meeting of the Kaponga Town Boa,rd was held in the Board's office on Tuesday, August 21. Present: Commissioners" Cook (chairman), Law, Oran, Guy, Shepherd and Betfcs. A deputation from the lower Duthie Raid waited on the Board in reference to a supply of electricity for lighting and power. After considerable discussion, the deputation decided to obtain all particulars and hand same to the Board at an early date for further consideration. The foreman's report and. suggestions were received. It was resolved to write to Eltham County re top-dressing roads with bitumen duxing the coming summer. - The tar boiler is to be lent to the Tennis Club for top-dressing courts. The engineer reported eleven new consumers, and some mor© promised. The cadet had befin dismissed and a new. one employed. Two casuals had also been employed, and would be required for some time. Correspondence from the Ta,ranaki Power Board re the supply of electricity was received. It was resolved to approach the Dairy Company re the erection of tne dam at an early date, so that the, extension of the power can be proceeded with, and that Comm.rs. Cran and Shepherd be appointed as a, committee to work with the Dairy Company in connection with the building of the dam. Th.& -Board confirmed the agreement with Etfcham Borough re supply of electricity, an<! asking them to* supply all the poles required. -Another application fora nouse was received and accepted. It was edcided'that a noli be ta&en for the pxirpose of raising a loan of £10,000 for the extension of electrical power, and that a public meeting t>e called to discuss same on Friday, August 2-1. The pound site is to be offered to Mrs Bertie at the usual rental, a-ntl Mrs Marsden the pit site at 30s per auirnm. Accounts amounting to £125 were Dassed for payment.
