WHAREROA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

The footballers' ball^ held at Whareroa last Friday evening, was very enjoyable, although on account of the. prevalence of influenza the attendance was much smaller than anticipated. Mr. Ben Walden presided at the piano* while extras were played by Mrs. Quin. . The news of the sad death of Noel Perry from pneumonic influenza was *eceived here with deep regrt»t. The little boy was. well known in this district, and was loved by all for his gentleness and kind nature. He was the elder son' of Mrs. Stanley Webb, now of Okaiawa, and the d^"-*^^ sympathy of all is -extended to Mr. and Mrs. AVebb in their sad loss. On receipt of the sad news the Okaiawa School flag was hoisted half-mast. The little boy's school mates acted as nail-bearers.
