THE NEW MINISTRY.

COMPOSITION UNCERTAIN.

>ST CABLB-PBEBB ASSQCIATIUN—CQPYBIGH-I LONDON, Aug. 12 The 'composition of the new German Ministry is uncertain, as the support of the parties is not by any means guaranteed t» Hctrr Streseman. The Berlin correspondent of the Daily Express says the Socialists will have a preponderating influence in Cabinet, receiving th-i portfolios of the Interior, Justice, Finance and Economics. Berlin advices state that the Socialists, while strong enough to cause the fall of Herr Cuno, are not strong i enough to form their own Government. They seek rather a coalition, consisting of the present working coalition of the | German People's Party, the_ Centre Party and the Democrats, with a «i<rong. leaven of-Socialists, holding at least three of the more important portfolios, under the leadership, of Herr Streseman. The Socialists were not thirsting for leadership under the x>re- | sent appalling conditions, but their hands were forced by the strong and persistent demands of iresponsible workers' leaders. During the week they besieged the Reichstag, trade union headquarters and the offices of the directorates of various undertakings, coupling with the clamour .for more money '-. demands for Hera- China's resignation.

The Socialist Party's resolution deposing of Herr Cuno outlined the policy which they were prepared to support as follows: Vigorous reform of finances by contributions from trade and industry through the guaranteed mortgaging of real estate; the restriction of inflation; the issue of a gold basis for currency; wages to be placed on a real value basis: an active foreign policy. with a solution of reparations conditional upon the complete preservation of the nation and tifa sovereignty of the republic; application for membership of the League of Nations, and dissociation of the Reichwehr from all illegal associations.
