THIRDS.
STRATFORD (8) V. HAWERA (3)
The Hawora and Stratford teams contested the third grade semi-final at Hawera, the game, which was keenly fought r.nd interesting throughout, re-1 suiting in favour of the visitors by 8 points to 3. Just before half-time, Hall, the Stratford centre tbree-quar-ter, made a brilliant run from outside the twenty-five, going right through the defence to score alongside the posts.. Grubb failed to convert. During the second spell Hall, receiving the ball at half-way, effected another spectacular opening, and ran through, to be collared on the line by Loader, the Hawera full-back. McCullough received Hall's pass and dived over, Hall converting. Hawera made determined efforts to pierce the defence, and just before time a forward rush took the ball almost to the visitors' line, and Shaw, getting possession, went in to score: Jfiarly failed to convert, and lull time sounded with the scores Stratford 8, Hawera 3.
