RETIRING AGED SERVANTS
CHRISTCHURCH, July 24
The question of .retiring V. number of aged and inferior employees was discussed by the City Council last night, and it was decided that notice of termination of employment be given fourteen men. Twelve men will receive three months' notice and two one month's notice, and men with over twe years' service will receive retiring allowance, varying from three to one month's pay. The ages of the men affected range from 72 to 41. Six labour councillors voted 'against the proposal.
