POSTMASTER'S DISMISSAL.
—— t I A KISSING CHARGE. j (By Telegraph—Special to Star.) WELLINGTON, July 11. A former post office employee, Edward Kennedy, Wellington, has petitioned Parliament to rehear . the sharges against him which resulted in his dismissal from the service after 20 ; gears' employment, so that if he can j satisfy a tribunal of Parliament lie j May be reinstated. Kennedy was re- I lieving postmaster at Patea in 1922, when two charges were made against i iiim -of behaving improperly towards: females. An assistant public service iommissioner investigated "both charges > md found _in petitioner's favour im •■ one case, but against him in the other, i md the petitioner was. dismissed. He ' joutends that the adverse finding was i nade on the unsupported word of one witness, and he urges that if a committee of the House hears the evidence for and against him and decides that the complaint is unfounded he should be reinstated in the service. He-has lost his means of livelihood and superannuation benefits through the complaint of one woman that while he was in the postmaster's room at Patea he attempted to kiss her.
