FATAL ACCIDENT.
—4 _ MAORI BOY KILLED. A peculiar accident, in which a Maori boy named Miki Rewa Te Ivoha lost his lire, occurred.at the -Gaonui factory! on Sunday morning (reports the' Opunulce Times.) It apjwars that the' boy entered tne turbine room, and by some means got caught in the shafting, being dashed to the floor and kill-1 cd. The deceased lad with: nis tnother on the Kina Road. The accident was witnessed by a yoath nam-i ed Smith, who endeavoured to stop the turbine, but was unable to do so. Mr! W. Waswo, who was im another part' •of the "factory, was called, and at gieat! personal risk kicked the hinge'belt off' the main pulley, thus stopping the Shafting from revolving. He was, however, too late, tor tne unfortunate boy had received fatal injuries "to the head and died a few minutes later. j
