COUNTRY CLUBS' DEPUTATION.
PRIME MINISTER'S REPLY. . WELLINGTON, July 11. Replying to a. deputation from the* country racing clubs' conference, Mr. i Massey to-day said that he sympathised with their requests for mike racing days for country clubs and a reduction , m taxation. A Bill would be before the '* House this session, and - he. thought! that Parliament would agree to a reasonable- increase in the number of permits.. Ho advised tiat the mow! i reasonable clubs were in. their requests. J the more likely were those requests to. jbe granted. | He did not know what position the : Legislative Council would take up- as to telegraphing investments to seere- i taries of racing clubs. He thought I that the provision in the law aguiinst it did more harm than good, ani might! very well be removed. j
