The following reso- ' lution was earned unanimously: '-That' this meeting, representing all summer spor.s. bodies in and around Christchurch and citizens generally, urges upon the Government to give* effect to , z legislation introducing throughout the ' Dominion daylight saving, i.e., the putting of the clocks forward one hour en - October 1 and back one hour on March 31 following. The meeting considers such a measure would have a beneficial effect on the health of the community generally, and is in the interests of - economy, and will consequently result in increased efficiency throughout New > Zealand." Representatives of several sports spoke.in support of daylight sarihg. -.The Mayor of Christchurch stated' that a letter had been received from ' Mr. T. K. Sidey, M.P.,- expressing the opinion that while Mr. Massey was in ' ••' power it was hopeless to expect even , .-' - a trial of the proposal in New Zea-, land.
