WEDNESDAY COMPETITIONS.
The promoters of the new competitions are entitled to th^ heartiest congratulations of all who desire the progress of the game or the success of I their ope7;iu<2: matches. There is room, j in fact a rail, for the raid-week matches ! for the ranks of those who aro free on j Yv'eduysduy nv-e v-ery larjce, and'conj tain a considerable number of good j players mid many others who should play. All supporters will heartily wish '■ them the greatest success in the scheme. It is their intention to run also junior teams, and these ■will provide an : outlet for many younger players, from whom in du-e course the ranks of the I seniors will he recruited. j It would have been a help if the Union had taken them up and let them run under their auspices, but the latei ness of the commencement prevented ! the Union doing so. Next season, how-' ' ever, it is to be hoped and expected i that this will be arranged. It would !be a help to the Wednesday Commit- • tee and would give- them a better j standing. " ' j
