Mr 'Phil- . lips, a relative, who was present, in the course ot some reminiscences of the old days, said that things were vastly different 50 years ago. Then they were i obliged to travel 17 miles to reach his fathers place. One horse was used and Mrs. Phillips would ride for a couple of miles and Ihen he would ride so that one was on foot and the other on horseback alternatively. Boys and girls nowadays talked ot hard times, yet at the same time they moved round in motor-oars and aaa other luxuries undreamt of fifty years ago.
