LABOUR CONFERENCE.
SYDNEY, June 12. Th» Labour Conference approved the of pre-electional ballots', and -appointed a committee to devise a substitute scheme. There was consideiable discussion on the question of the standing of the Communist party, cre--ated by the adoption of a resolution in favoxir of its affiliation with the Australian Labour Party. The cnairman (Mr AVillis) ruled that ■from the Labour standpoint the Communist Party had ceased to exist as an independent party The -•onference, by vote, upheld this ruling. Previously Mr Willis" had pointed out that the proposed admission of the Communists simply meant that such a proposal was io be submitted to the nest conference. Pending that, the position had not been altered, the conference, having •expressed its ■ opinion ami the i^rincipk only.
